The A-Team Movie Is Dead

It's been so long since we've heard anything about the long rumored A-Team movie that I think most had started to assume it was headed the way of Hasselhoff's Knight Rider project. In other words, nowhere.

Series creator Stephen J. Cannell disagrees with that analysis, and says a new version of the "A-Team" is still underway. He told Empire that they're tossing out all their previous scripts and starting a brand new one with a new screenwriter. What he doesn't reveal is who that writer might be.

I have a theory.

As reported in our TV section, the newly formed CW network recently announced that they're producing an updated, modern version of the "A-Team" for television. The show will be written by "Empire" creator Tom Wheeler. In his interview, Cannell never actually says they're doing a movie. He just says they're working on an updated version of the "A-Team". To me, that says he was talking about this television show, and didn't want to kill all the buzz for the project by telling us the movie was actually dead. There's just no way they'd make a new television show and a new movie at the same time.

This is the nail in the coffin folks. There is no "A-Team" movie. Just a cheap updating of the television show for airing on America's least watched network. Let's hope this works out better than "Team Knight Rider".
