Tom Cruise Fights For Earth In New Oblivion Trailer

When the new posters for director Joseph Kosinski's Oblivion came online yesterday I noted in my write-up that there was a strong possibility that we would be seeing a new trailer very soon. Well...

The latest preview for the film has arrived online, and while it is a pretty plot-heavy spot it's also very cool looking and presents an interesting mystery. Watch it below and head over to Apple to see it in HD.

The trailer doesn't hide the fact that the civilization built in the skies will end up being the antagonistic force that faces off against Tom Cruise's Jack Harper, but I like that there's still plenty of questions begging to be answered. If Melissa Leo and company are evil, what is their nefarious plot? What's with all of the people living underground? Are those beasty looking things with glowing eyes aliens? Who the hell is Olga Kurylenko playing and what is her secret?

Oblivion, Kosinski's follow-up to 2010's Tron Legacy, has Cruise playing a disgraced soldier who is sent to repair drones on the Earth's surface following a devastating war with an alien race. While down there, however, he makes a discovery that could change the entire future of mankind. The film may look like a big summer blockbuster, but it's actually set to arrive much earlier than that, set to hit theaters on April 12th.
