Trailer for Found Footage Horror Flick Area 407

There's something innately unnerving about air travel. You and bunch of strangers are strapped into a giant metal tube that goes hurtling through the sky miles above the ground for hours, all to reach your destination after plummeting back at the Earth under the care of a pilot you've never met. Sure, it's a common situation, but that hardly makes its numerous and frightening variables less stress inducing or potentially bone-chilling. This is why the claustrophobic confines of a plane so often figure into the set-up of thrillers and horror movies. Now this nail-biting backdrop has been folded into another popular horror trend: the found footage feature.

Area 407, formerly titled Tape 407, begins by exploiting our fear of flying, but soon changes course to target a more sci-fi inspired destination. Centering on a pair of teen sisters flying from New York to Los Angeles on New Year's Eve, this thriller just takes off when the plane crashes. The flight's survivors stumble out into an unknown landscape, and immediately try to call for help, but soon encounter a fate far more sinister than a plane crash.

The directorial feature debut of Dale Fabrigar and Everette Wallin, Area 407 throws its unlucky cast of characters into a remote government-testing reserve. Their terror-stricken experiences are captured by the aforementioned sisters, who accidentally uncover what's lurking in the dark expanse of Area 407. Abigail Schrader, Samantha Lester, James Lyons, Melanie Lyons, Brendan Patrick Connor, Ken Garcia, Samantha Sloyan, Everette Wallin and Jude Gerard Prest co-star.

Area 407 will open in select theaters and be made available nationwide on IFC Midnight Cable VOD, SundanceNOW, iTunes, Amazon Streaming, XBOX Zune, Playstation Unlimited on April 27th.
