According to that ridiculous photo spread in the recent issue of Vanity Fair, Transformers: Dark of the Moon beauty Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was deemed one of the 116 greatest talents ever to work under the Paramount umbrella. That was her first film. And already, the model-turned-thespian is taking her talents to a rival studio, signing on the dotted line to appear in Warner Bros.’ Mad Max: Fury Road, which is about to start lensing in Australia.
Deadline reports the news, saying gorgeous Huntington-Whiteley is joining previously cast actors like Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in the pending blockbuster. Who will she play? We can’t say yet. Most of the details swirling around Mad Max have been cloaked in mystery. What we do know so far is that it won’t be a sequel or a prequel, but rather an extension of the previous three movies, with Hardy stepping into the shoes once filled by a much younger Mel Gibson.
Is Huntington-Whiteley a good actress? It’s too soon to say one way or the other. Personally, she struck us as an upgrade over Megan Fox in Michael Bay’s last Transformers film. But the women in those films aren’t asked to do much but look beautiful while they run for their lives. Huntington-Whiteley has the looks down pat, but she hasn’t landed an acting gig since 2011’s Dark of the Moon. She’s probably too preoccupied with her modeling career.
Mad Max: Fury Road will be directed by George Miller, and is expected to reach theaters at some point in 2013. Stay tuned for more details as they emerge.
