Congratulations Twilight fans, your franchise finally has a great actor. It’s not that I have anything against Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson, but they just aren’t in the same weight class as Michael Sheen.

Variety says Sheen has joined the cast of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, already shooting in Vancouver. He’ll play the leader of the Volturi, a coven of Italian vampires from the Twilight books. Since they’ve already been shooting for a month, either they’ve had him on set and kept it under wraps, or they just hired him and his role isn’t significant. Even if it’s just a cameo, Michael Sheen has a way of classing up a join.

By the way, this is actually Sheen’s second vampire franchise, though it’s his first time playing a vampire. Remember the head werewolf from the Underworld movies? Yeah that was him. He was also David Frost in the Oscar nominated film Frost/Nixon.
