Warner Bros. Picks Up Awkwardfamilyphotos.com Creators' Movie

Who’d have thought I could be so excited about a movie that I basically know nothing about? Well, when the writers are responsible for a website as funny as awkwardfamilyphotos.com, it makes sense. Make sure you visit that site after reading this article; otherwise you might never return to finish it.

Anyway, the site’s creators, Mike Bender and Doug Chernack, developed a screenplay called Sterling and Warner Bros. went for it. As reported by THR, plot info is being concealed, but you can expect to get a high-concept action-comedy. Chuck Roven and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment will produce while Sarah Schechter keeps an eye on the project for the studio.

Other than the website, you may recall Bender’s work on the MTV Movie Awards or on Not Another Teen Movie. Back in 2006, New Line Cinema picked up the rights to the Spanish dark comedy Torrente and hired Bender and Chernack to pen an English-language remake, but there’s been no update on the project since. Odds are we won’t hear much more about that or Sterling for some time, so keep an eye out for a book based on awkwardfamilyphotos.com hitting stores on May 4th.
