Watch A 20-Second Teaser For The New Prometheus Trailer

The teaser trailer for Prometheus that debuted last December was pretty much a perfection of the form-- brief glimpses of the film taken out of context, the title slowly revealing itself in the style of the original Alien credits, almost no dialogue, and music that gave the sense of something awful just about to happen. The marketing campaign has been pretty flawless since then too, including the recent fake TED talk introducing us to Guy Pearce's character Peter Weyland. But the time has come to reveal a little more than teaser images, and with a new Prometheus trailer coming this weekend, a 20-second preview of the trailer has made its way online via Yahoo! UK. Take a look below.

If you're still hoping to maintain the mystery, you're still good to go here-- this follows along the lines of the teaser in just showing images along with music and no dialogue. What's new is a lot of the scenes we see, including a brief glimpse at Noomi Rapace in a space suit getting blasted with debris, Idris Elba looking mighty surprised, a giant dust cloud overtaking a rover, and a lot of new spacecraft.

What does it all mean? How does it fit with the larger story? If the Prometheus marketing continues along this path, we probably won't find out until the movie actually comes to theaters on June 8. Based on what we've seen so far, I'm perfectly happy this way. In an age when trailers seem anxious to give everything away, a lot of this summer's big upcoming blockbusters-- including The Avengers and the ever-mysterious The Dark Knight Rises-- seem happy maintaining the mystery. Here's hoping the upcoming Prometheus trailer doesn't go back on all of that and gives us plenty of questions left to answer.
