Steve Martin really is a comedy icon. From his stand-up, to his time hosting Saturday Night Live, to films like The Jerk, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, ¡Three Amigos! and Planes, Trains and Automobies, Martin will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the funniest people to ever walk this planet. Sadly it often seems like his best times are behind him (some of his most recent titles include two Pink Panther and two Cheaper By The Dozen movies) but I will say this: watching him do the two-finger dance at the end of the trailer for The Big Year puts a huge smile on my face. Check out the preview below or in HD over on Apple.

Starring Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson, The Big Year is about three men who decide that they need a major life change and make a huge decision: for an entire year they will try and find some of the rarest birds in North America. Based on the book by Mark Obmascik, the project was adapted by Howard Franklin (Quick Change, AntiTrust) and directed by David Frankel (Marley and Me, The Devil Wears Prada). The film is set to be released on October 14th. In addition to the trailer, Apple has also posted the film's first poster:
