The flame under The Hunger Games: Catching Fire began to sputter this weekend and the movie dropped 63%. It dropped out of first place, leaving room for Frozen, which held on stronger, to have its shot at number one.
Despite the switch in places, Catching Fire is still the stronger performer having crossed the $300 million domestic mark this week and is on track to pass $400 million. It's yet to be seen if it can top Iron Man 3's $409 million. Frozen added $31 million to its $134 million total.
The one newcomer this weekend, Christian Bale's thriller Out of the Furnace failed to generate any heat. It came in at a very distant third place with just $5 million against its $22 million budget.
Thor: The Dark World dropped to fourth place and in its fourth weekend is struggling to break $200 million.
