It's just not Sundance until Brit Marling arrives on the scene. Two years ago the young actress/writer cemented herself into the indie movie scene with both the sci-fi drama Another Earth and the time-travel thriller Sound of My Voice, and in 2012 she returned to Park City, Utah with the Nicholas Jarecki's Arbitrage. And she didn't break the trend this year either. For her 2013 entry Marling reteamed with her Sound of my Voice co-writer and director Zal Batmanglij to make The East - which we get our first look at today.

The new thriller made its worldwide premiere just last night down at the Sundance Film Festival and with the movie set to be distributed by Fox Searchlight the studio is celebrating with the first ever trailer for the movie, as well as a poster. You can check out both of them below, which come to us courtesy of Apple.

And here's the poster:

Starring Marling as well as Ellen Page, Alexander Skarsgard, Shiloh Fernandez, Patricia Clarkson, Julia Ormond and Toby Kebbell, The East follows a undercover agent and contractor (Marling) for an elite private intelligence firm who is hired to infiltrate a mysterious anarchist collective that has been known to commit terrorist attacks against major corporations. But as she gets pulled in further and further she begins to question which side she is really playing for. Sounds a bit like Avatar (a.k.a. Dances With Wolves, Fern Gully, and Pocahontas) but we'll see how it plays out when it arrives in theaters.
