It may not be a blockbuster or a Marvel movie, but the team behind Fifty Shades Darker still decided to leave a little treat at the end of the movie for fans who may have been too exhausted from the pure passion they witnessed up onscreen to leave their seats. Those who sat through the credits were able to witness a special tease into the third and last movie of Fifty Shades trilogy, the confusingly titled Fifty Shades Freed. You'd be forgiven for not knowing about the scene and leaving early, so in case you missed it, here's what was shown during the Fifty Shades Freed teaser.

The teaser for Fifty Shades Freed plays like a trailer for the upcoming movie, showing a few brief snippets to the final installment of the trilogy. The scene opens with Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) wearing a wedding dress and veil. It then cuts to the back of an unseen man's head, but it's heavily implied to be Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), as we hear him recite his wedding vows. The vows play over a montage which includes clips of Anastasia and Christian participating in some non-sexual activity together like sitting on the beach, boarding a jet plane, and Anastasia running down a corridor. The teaser ends as Christian says, "I solemnly vow to keep you safe for as long as we both shall live." Boom.
Not quite as enticing as fans of the series might be used, to but they won't have to wait very long at all to see the film. Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed were filmed back to back, and the latter will be hitting theaters next year. We can expect plenty more traditional trailers to hit in the meantime.
Though it was critically lambasted, Fifty Shades Darker had a very good opening weekend, coming in at number two behind The LEGO Batman Movie. The romantic drama sequel opened to $46.6 million and currently stands at a worldwide total of over $166 million. The franchise is still going strong; and though it never seems to get very good reviews, people come to these movies for the sizzle, not the steak.
Fifty Shades Freed will close out the story of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, who are about to become one of the kinkiest married couples ever. The film will follow the two as they adjust to married life, but Anastasia will find her life threatened by when her former boss, Jack Hyde (definitely not a villain name), seeks vengeance for being fired -- you know, like a normal person.
Fifty Shades Freed is directed by James Foley and will bow in theaters on February 9, 2018.
