We all know what we want to see from Taken 2, and luckily everything we've seen from this movie so far seems to offer exactly that. The sequel to the surprise 2009 hit, Taken 2 finds Liam Neeson's Bryan Mills once again in a foreign country facing off against the thugs-- actually, the same thugs from last time, this time exacting revenge against the guy who foiled their plans to sell his daughter into slavery. As you can see in the brand-new trailer below, Mills arrives in Istanbul and is surprised by his wife (Famke Janssen) and daughter (Maggie Grace), but whereas most people would just enjoy the family vacation, Bryan Mills manages to run into trouble at every turn. I still can't decide if it's a good idea for them to basically repeat the famous phone call scene from the first movie, though the version of it we see in this trailer really sets up the film's plot quite nicely: "Listen to me carefully Kim. Your mother is going to be taken. People are going to come for you too. Take one of the guns and two of the grenades. This is not a game." Though Taken 2 brings back the crucial element of Liam Neeson, it also has director Olivier Megaton replacing Pierre Morel from the first film-- Megaton is also a famous French director, but his last credit was Colombiana, another take on the Taken formula that made pretty much nobody happy.

So it might not be wise to go into Taken 2 hoping for something just as outlandish and entertaining as the original, but at least we know Neeson will be there bringing his A-game. Taken 2 opens in theaters October 5.
