Subscribe To Gerard Butler Upstages Burning White House In French Olympus Has Fallen Poster Updates
2013 will see the release of not one but two movies centered on a single secret service agent tasked with saving the United States president once the White House is ambushed. Roland Emmerich will unroll his take on this tale with the Channing Tatum-fronted White House Down this summer. But before then, audiences here and abroad will already have had the chance to take in Antoine Fuqua's Olympus Has Fallen.

Gerard Butler stars Mike Banning, a former secret service agent who retired after the accidental death of the First Lady. But when 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is besieged by North Korean commandos, Banning rushes to the aid of the President (Aaron Eckhart) and his son. The film's first poster teased the destruction the White House would see. Now, the French site Lyricis Interactive has posted the feature's French promo poster, which you can check out below:

In this poster, it's Butler who is the center of attention, with the world askew and the White House engulfed in flames behind him. There's a lot of drama in the image, from the flames flickering light on Butler's grim countenance and burly forearms, to the tattered and burning American flag, and the helicopters scattered across the smoke-filled sky. This succinctly establishes a distinct look from White House Down, which has the benefit of bigger names but the deficit of a later release date. This will be an intersting battle for box office supremacy.

Olympus Has Fallen marks the first screenplay writing team Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger have had produced, and will serve as Fuqua's follow-up to the 2009 crop drama Brooklyn's Finest. Aside from Butler and Eckhart, Olympus Has Fallen also boasts a cast that includes Morgan Freeman, Dylan McDermott, Ashley Judd, Radha Mitchell, Melissa Leo, Cole Hauser, Rick Yune, Robert Forster and Angela Bassett.

Olympus Has Fallen will open in France on March 20th, a U.S. release follows on March 22nd. For more on the movie, including posters and trailers, Blend Film Database.
