John Travolta in Face/Off

AwardsBlend is your weekly catch-up on all things Oscars as we inch closer and closer to the Academy Awards, which will be held on March 4 this year. Why in March? How come we haven't had this ceremony already? For real, these movies have been in theaters for weeks... even months. It seems like we easily could have had the Oscar ceremony already. The guys -- CinemaBlend Managing Director Sean O'Connell; Fox 5 DC Entertainment Reporter Kevin McCarthy, and; Fox 32 Chicago Entertainment Reporter Jake Hamilton -- weigh in on the current state of the race, and then some.

Before they get to the Best Supporting Actor and Actress races, Jake, Kevin and Sean share funny celebrity encounters, stemming from Kevin recently running into John Travolta and instantly peppering him with Face/Off quotes. Because of course.

From there, the boys get into the one major fix that they would bring to the Oscar telecast -- because we all can agree that the show is slightly broken, and really needs to be improved. And then they discuss Steven Spielberg's next two films... leading to Jake dropping a bombshell.

AwardsBlend started as a weekly podcast that dives into every facet of the ongoing Oscar race. But from there, it has evolved to become three good friends discussing whatever is on their radars in the world of film. Marvel? Spielberg? Nolan? We cover all of the bases, while also bringing you -- the listeners -- into the unusual world of celebrity interviews and Hollywood junkets. It's a wild ride.

For all of our previous AwardsBlend episodes, you can head to this Podcast page on CinemaBlend, watch our actual shows on YouTube, and download traditional audio podcasts on our iTunes page, which is here. We'll be back at it next week, where we plan to break down the Best Director race. It's going to get passionate, we promise.
