Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart have called it quits. The long-time acting couple, known for their roles in Grey's Anatomy and Jawbreaker, respectively, filed for divorce after 14 years of marriage. Gayheart sent the legal documents on Friday afternoon.

According to documents related to the divorce, the date of separation is currently listed as "TBD." The impending divorced sees Gayheart requesting spousal support and joint legal and physical custody. Dane and Gayheart also share two daughters together, 7-year-old Billie Beatrice and 6-year-old Georgia. Shortly after this news was unveiled via court docs, Eric Dane released a statement about the divorce to People earlier this weekend.

After 14 years together, we have decided that ending our marriage is the best decision for our family. We will continue our friendship and work as a team to co-parent our two beautiful girls as they are the most important thing in the world to us. We kindly ask that you respect our privacy during this time as we navigate the next phase of our lives.

Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart have shared at least a few difficulties in their relationship during the past decade. In 2009, an intimate threesome video between them and another woman leaked online, unbeknownst to them. Dane also went to rehab in 2011 for his addiction to painkillers after a sports injury. Through their tribulations, the couple stayed committed to each other's side, which is why this weekend's news about their impending divorce is rather disheartening. Dane also has a history of depression, which he is currently treating. Dane has previously talked about his depression and the toll it had taken on him, his work, his marriage and his family life, although there's no word on whether or not that contributed to the couple's split.

Since leaving Grey's Anatomy on ABC in 2012, Eric Dane has since been seen in TNT's The Last Ship, which he joined in 2014. Dane also serves as a producer on that expensive series. The dramatic program was renewed for a 10-episode fifth season back in 2016, which was filmed immediately after season four was shot, and that'll premiere later this year. It's unclear, however, if the show will get a sixth season. Last year, Dane's depression caused production on The Last Ship to temporarily shut down while Dane took time to heal. Dane was also seen in the last year's dramatic thriller Grey Lady, which also starred Rebecca Gayheart. The last role on her resume before that was G.B.F. in 2013. We'll keep you updated as the (former) couple moves forward through the divorce process. It's generally a tough thing to go through, but it sounds like the two actors have their kids first and foremost on their minds.
