Adele Pulls An M.I.A. And Flips The Bird At Brit Awards

Following Adele’s sincere intentions to write a happy album just over a week ago, the singer's behavior has not followed that of a sincerely happy woman. The last couple of days have been tumultuous for the “Rolling in the Deep” songstress, who spoke out about her father - a known deadbeat who sold some bullshit on the singer to a tabloid – with anger and ill will. Now, a gesture at the British Music Awards has put the singer’s behavior at the forefront, again.

Adele pulled an M.I.A. during the ceremony, glaringly throwing up her middle finger during her acceptance speech for best album. Unlike M.I.A, the 23 year-old singer had something clear to protest against: the people running the British Music Awards. Apparently the schedule was running a little late and so the producers of the show felt they needed to interrupt Adele just as she was speaking about being proud to be British. According to BBC News, host James Cordon interrupted Adele to introduce Blur.

At the time, the whole incident could have been construed as a giant fuck you to the audience, but Adele came out later to explain it absolutely wasn’t.

"I flung the middle finger. That was for the suits at the Brit Awards, not my fans. I'm sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me."

While I am sure it is annoying for any celebrity to be cut short for an acceptance speech, there are seriously way worse things to be cut off for than one of the most interesting Brit bands of all time. Look at poor Dave Grohl, who spoke about how it is still great to sit down and put your heart and soul into the music craft…before being escorted off the stage by an LMFAO track. Maybe we can talk middle fingers, Adele, when you get cut off by a Rebecca Black track.
