Barney Creator's Son Arrested For Attempted Murder

Barney And Friends may have taught plenty of children peace, love and cooperation while it was on the air, but apparently, those messages didn’t pass down to the son of the show’s creator, Sheryl Leach. Earlier this month, Patrick Leach was arrested for allegedly shooting a guy in the chest. The victim is expected to recover, but unfortunately for the shooter, attempted murder is still a very serious charge.

According to The Acorn, the near death incident occurred on January 9 in Malibu, California. The victim, who has only been publically identified as a forty-nine-year-old man, was shot in the chest, though the reasons why are still unclear. A witness who was at the scene gave police a description of a black SUV seen leaving the area. Several hours later, authorities were able to track down a vehicle similar to the one described, and inside it, they reportedly found evidence linking its driver, Leach, with the attempted murder.

The twenty-seven-year-old suspect is currently free on one million dollars bail. He hasn’t spoken publically about what may have happened, nor have any members of his family. As for the victim, he was rushed to UCLA Medical Center and treated. Barring any unforeseen complications, he will make a full recovery, assumedly in time to testify against Leach.

We’ll keep you updated. Until then, try not to hold this entire mess against Barney.
