It’s been a horrible few months for Hollywood relationships people actually thought would last. Amy Poehler and Will Arnett broke up after almost a decade last month, and now, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have decided to go their separate ways after thirty long years of marriage.

Long considered to be a shining example of how to be famous and make a long term relationship work, the current star of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and the former star of Cheers released a statement this morning saying only that they had separated. No one knows the reason behind the split or even if the time apart will be permanent, but devastated fans and love enthusiasts have already taken to Twitter and Facebook to mourn the ending of the quirky and awesome relationship.

DeVito and Perlman met all the way back in 1970. According to People, she went to see one of her buddies perform in a Broadway play but her future husband was the one she ended up talking to after the production. Two weeks later, they moved in together. After marrying in 1982, they had three children and seemed the picture of happiness.

Holding up a Hollywood couple as proof people can make it work isn’t exactly fair to the couple in question, but for the past few decades, DeVito and Perlman, along with Hanks and Wilson and a few others have been exactly that. Pop Blend’s sincerest thoughts go out to both Danny and Rhea, as well as their children.
