Ashton Kutcher stopped by the TCA panel earlier this week to talk Two And A Half Men, but the reaction he got ended up being less about the show and more about his appearance. Not only did the former That 70s Show star have on his wedding ring, he also had a smile plastered on that fans could actually see. That’s because, after months and months with a fully grown, manly beard, he finally shaved it off.
According to US Weekly. the actor was very clear that the facial hair decision was related to the show, but he also had a sense that the new smoothness would alter the way some fans see him.
"I'm sure there will be people now that I've cut my hair and shaved my beard that want me to have long hair and a beard. And there were people that when I had a beard and long hair they wanted me to be shaved and have a haircut. How it evolved is that these guys wrote a screenplay that dictated that I cut my hair and shave my beard at some point."
Ashton Kutcher gets paid far too much money to question his writers on something as trivial as facial hair. Of course, that doesn’t mean he didn’t have qualms about parting with the beard or his longer hair. Life with and without facial hair is a bit different. With the beard, Ashton seems like a much more normal dude. He's less handsome and somehow more real. Without the beard, he looks like someone who would get paid millions of dollars to model and act. I suppose his publicist probably likes the latter guy better, but as someone with his own wild beard, I can't help but like the first dude better.
