Dwayne The Rock Johnson might be a franchise-saving actor and a reality competition host, but his first love will always be wrestling. He’s continually returned to the WWE for random events, most recently at Wrestlemania last month. Unfortunately, while that appearance probably seemed like good fun, it’s now turned into a far bigger deal.
According to E! Online, the Rock had an emergency hernia operation last night to deal with an injury he suffered wrestling (and losing to) John Cena. The medical procedure caused him to miss the Los Angeles premiere of his new film Pain & Gain, but with some rest, his doctors think he’ll be fine and with less time wrestling, his director thinks he’ll be fine too.
Here’s what Michael Bay, had to say…
"He was pushing it too hard. [ He] needs to grow up and stop wrestling 300-pound men."
The Rock has proven he’s a badass numerous times, both inside and outside the squared circle. He has every right to walk away from the world of wrestling now if he so chooses. If he does, he’ll definitely go down as one of the greatest who ever laced up the boots. That being said, he may well follow his heart back into the ring again sometime in the future.
Regardless, Pop Blend’s sincerest thoughts go out to the Rock as he recovers. This is normally the part of the article where we’d wish him luck in getting back on his feet quickly, but let’s face it, we all know something like emergency hernia surgery isn’t going to keep the Rock down.
