Alias' Kevin Weisman To Join NBC's Awake

Having screened the pilot episode of Awake already, I don’t need any incentive to tune in whenever it is NBC is able to get it on the air. However, the addition of Alias’ Kevin Weisman as a recurring character certainly does sweeten the pot.

Awake is a drama that stars Jason Isaacs as a detective who is in a terrible car accident with his wife and son, after which he begins to wake up in one of two realities; in one, his wife died in the crash and his son survived, in the other his wife is alive but his son died. Every time he goes to sleep, he wakes up in the opposite reality.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Weisman, who’s known to Alias fans as the adorably awkward genius Marshall Flinkman, will play “a mysterious character called Mr. Blonde.” His role is recurring and will have him appearing in both of Isaac’s character’s realities. Mr. Blonde is described as, “a man with unclear motives, it seems Mr. Blonde has revealing information about the car accident that changed Britton’s life.”

When I hear the name Mr. Blonde, I automatically think of Michael Madsen’s sadistic character from Reservoir Dogs. Is his name a nod to that? If so, Isaac’s Detective Britton might want to watch his back (and his ears).

NBC hasn’t set a premiere date for the series yet, but you can read my thoughts on the pilot here.
