Subscribe To New Game Of Thrones Still Shows A Moment We’ve All Been Waiting For Updates
In just one month's time, nearly a year of anticipation will finally pay off. Because July brings the return of HBO's massively popular Game of Thrones, with Season 7 serving as its penultimate entry. Since the final two seasons are shorter in length, we should expect a faster pace with plenty of payoffs for the dedicated fandom. Perhaps no potential plot is exciting as Dany arriving in Westeros to attempt to take the Iron Throne. Dany was last seen (finally) sailing with her fleet, and now a new still shows the very moment that Khaleesi finally returned home. Check it out.
The Queen has arrived. And it's about damn time.
This new (awesome) image comes to us from Time's official Twitter account. In the image, we see Dany departing from one of her ships to a small boat rowing to shore. Alongside the Targaryen heir are her two most trusted confidantes: Missandei and Tyrion. And joining them for the party is Varys, who was also shown sailing alongside Dany in Season 6's finale. Surprisingly everyone's favorite Unsullied, Grey Worm, isn't in this first boat. But he's likely commanding Dany's newly amassed fleet, so we'll give him a pass this time.
The above Game of Thrones still is a pretty glorious representation of the show's rich history. While similar imagery was used during the final moments of Season 6, this image allows you to properly take in the forced behind Dany. In the background you can see all three of her dragons, with the behemoth Drogon leading the formation to shore.
Additionally, you can see House Tyrell and House Martell's ships represented in the large fleet. The sigil of House Tyrell is particularly visible, which feels like a fitting way to commemorate the three Tyrells that died in Cersei's explosion at the Sept of Baelor. Margaery and Loras have been major characters in Game of Thrones since early in its impressive tenure, and their absence will surely be felt in Season 7. Luckily Diana Rigg's Olenna Tyrell is out for revenge.
Daenerys Targaryen's arrival in Westeros is a moment that fans of Game of Thrones have been waiting for since day 1. And for fans of George R.R. Martin's novels, it's one that has been decades in the making. While Dany is a fan favorite, her journey has always been capsulated and separate from the rest of the characters. But she's finally ready to conquer, thanks her to her army of Unsullied, mass of Dothraki, and three fully grown dragons. But aside from the physical side of conquering, she'll need to make allies with powerful Westerosi Houses. Hopefully these alliances are able to ban together against Cersei's queendom, before pivoting to the army of dead just beyond the wall.
Game of Thrones will return for Season 7 on July 16th. In the meantime, check out our summer premiere list to plan your next binge watch.
