Fans are about to see Pauley Perrette take her final bow as Abby Sciuto on NCIS. The actress, who has been with the show since it started in 2003, previously announced that Season 15 would be her last. In April, Perrette shared set pictures from her last day of filming the series. With only one day to go before her final episode airs, Perrette is preparing fans on her Twitter account with a big message. See it for yourself below:

It sounds like NCIS fans need to brace themselves for a grim outcome to last week's cliffhanger. While producers have promised a "special send-off" for the fan favorite, Pauley Perrette's tweet indicates Abby's final episode will be a sad one, which sounds more than a bit ominous for the character's future. It is not uncommon for a character's exit from a show to involve the death stroke of a writer's pen.

Due to how unpopular killing off the character would be, there is reason to hope NCIS will keep Abby among the land of the living. Albeit, the ending of last week's episode and the promo for this week's didn't offer much in the way of hope.

Since Pauley Perrette says there will be flashbacks, it may be safe to assume there will be a retrospective to commemorate Abby. On television, flashbacks are commonplace when an actor and their character are leaving a show. It is a way to pay respect to their legacy on the show while reminiscing on their best and most dramatic moments. All told, it is an excellent way to bring everything full circle. Could Abby survive her ordeal and leave for another job opportunity?

Anything is still possible. It only takes one miraculous recovery to put Abby on the mend and ready to see what the world has in store for her. That ending would account for the flashbacks since everyone would start remembering old times with her, knowing they are going to miss her. Sadly, Abby being killed off also explains it, as everyone would be remembering her amid her tragic death. Then again, maybe the episode will simply feature Abby thinking back on old times and taking viewers along for the ride to her blasts from the past.

Pauley Perrette is leaving NCIS a little shy of the Season 15 finale, and it makes sense the show would want to wind down the season on a bold note. Whether or not Abby is killed off, fans will be sad to see her go, which could explain why Perrette is "worried" about them. Even though they have known Perrette and Abby's exit has been coming for a while, it is never easy to say goodbye.

Find out what Abby's fate will be when it is revealed on the new episode of NCIS airing Tuesday, May 8 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
