Awkward Season 3 Trailer And Premiere Date: You're Welcome

Spoilers if you aren't caught up through Season 2 of Awkward!

Season 3! Junior year! Following the school photos teaser we saw earlier this month comes an official premiere date and an actual trailer for Awkward's third season, which arrives April 16 at 10/9c on MTV. To quote Sadie, "You're welcome."

Based on the trailer, Awkward's taking on a new meaning this season as Jenna and Matty date while Tamara and Jake couple up. Awkward? I'm thinking yes, at least a little bit. And yet, somehow based on what we're shown, excluding the high-five/hip-bump charades moment between Jenna and Jake, it looks like the foursome is kind of making it work. Tamara and Jake might be overcompensating a little bit with their PDA and Facebook page, but there's definitely enthusiasm there. What else is going on? Someone's pregnant? Sadie? There's a guy named Colin? Jenna and Matty are in "sure, babe" territory, which is apparently not good? And Sadie still thinks Jenna's lame. You're welcome.

Created by Lauren Iungerich, Awkward takes high school drama to a witty level and centers on the awkward exploits of Jenna Hamilton (Ashley Rickards), who's caught up in a romance with the dreamy Matty McKibben (Beau Mirchoff). Also among the cast are Nikki DeLoach, Jillian Rose Reed, Brett Davern, Molly Tarlov, Desi Lydic. If I had to compare it to past great high school series, I'd say it's a My So Called Life story with a Freaks and Geeks tone, and it's about as watch-worthy as those comparisons makes it sound. If you're behind on the show or you haven't given it a chance, MTV has the first two seasons available to watch on their site.
