Only a few short weeks after signing a four year streaming deal with Netflix, the CW has signed another major streaming agreement, this time over at Hulu. Those of us who have forgone the cable bill in favor of a life of streaming programming breathe a little sigh of relief every time a new deal ensure we won’t have to go crawling back to cable to catch our favorite shows. If you’re among the cable-less and are hooked on CW programming, there’s good news.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the CW has inked a five year deal with Hulu that will provide subscribers with next day access to the five most recent episodes on Hulu Plus. Those who choose to stick with the free Hulu service will get the episodes on an eight day delay. On the list to be added to Hulu’s streaming content are Ringer, Hart of Dixie, The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl and America’s Next Top Model.

Viewers will still have to go to Netflix to get previous season episodes, as the Hulu deal offers the latest season. The network is hoping that the combination of making older seasons available on Netflix and the newer ones on Hulu will keep current viewers happy as well as gaining new fans for their programming. Mark Pedowitz, CW CEO thinks the deal should make everyone happy:
”We see this as a win for everyone involved, the network, the stations, Hulu and ultimately, the viewers.”

Perhaps the viewers should have been placed at the top of this list; after all, with the number of choices that are already out there and the new ones on the way, the bottom line should be happy viewers. I’m hoping to see more and better streaming deals coming up as more networks step up to streaming.
