A Couple Of Fan Favorites Are Returning To The Originals
The Originals has always been a TV show that is fond of flashbacks, probably because it gives the writers an excuse to get into fun period clothing for a scene or two. This season, however, the drama has plans for a major flashback that will bring back a resurrected vampire and another fan-favorite vampire. That’s right, Season 3 of The Originals is going to feature Rebekah and the original Finn.
Finn’s story is a pretty complex one. The elder Mikaelson brother is a love-to-hate character who is close with his mother, Esther, and technically was killed way back in Season 3 of The Vampire Diaries. Then, he was resurrected in the first season of The Originals but was in a different body. His soul was eventually drawn out of that other body, so it would be weird to bring the original actor who played Finn back for anything other than a flashback. Thus, that is exactly how The Originals is reintegrating actor Nathaniel Buzolic back into the plot.
TV Guide reports that the storyline will pick up right after Esther died at the hands of Klaus, when the family was fleeing. Here’s what Michael Narducci had to say about the upcoming flashback.
The scene sounds pretty original, pardon my pun, and I’m all in favor of any sequence that brings Claire Holt back to The Originals. Her character, Rebekah, left the city of New Orleans during Season 1, and while she’s occasionally popped up since then, the actress has mostly moved on to other projects. She recently appeared in NBC’s David Duchovny-led drama Aquarius.
The stint for both characters currently seems as if it will only be for one scene this time, but The Originals has frequently used flashbacks for other instances and if those go well, perhaps we’ll see more similar footage in the future.
This particular flashback sequence is set for the season premiere, so fans will be able to catch it sooner rather than later. The Originals is set to hit the schedule on Thursday, October 8 at 9 p.m. ET on the CW, following the season 7 premiere of The Vampire Diaries at 8 p.m. ET.
