Farscape Creator Rockne O'Bannon Very Excited About A Huge New Series For Syfy

For those of you who’ve been hoping to see more scifi on Syfy, that may be in the works and I’m not just talking about Blood & Chrome. Word is, Farscape creator Rockne S. O’Bannon may be helming a “huge” new series for the network.

Details on this rumor are scarce at this point. All we have to go on right now is a tweet from O’Bannon himself, which he made about an hour ago stating:

Great meeting at Syfy yesterday. New project. HUGE. New series. Very excited. Very, very excited.

This “new project” could be anything and may only be in the early stages of development, however given how very (very) excited O’Bannon is, I’d say there’s cause to celebrate if you’re a fan of his work. Not only did O’Bannon create the scifi series Farscape, but he also has writing credits on Alien Nation, Seaquest 2032 and most recently, an episode of V. With that in mind, I think it’s safe to assume this project will be decidedly in the realm of “proper” scifi, which should appease those who haven’t been thrilled with Syfy “branching out” a bit on the genre with some of their programming (wrestling.).
