It’s Official: America’s Favorite Bodyguard To Get Own Show

A few months ago TV Blend reported that Jerry Springer’s head bodyguard, Steve Wilkos was in talks to possibly get his own show. It now appears NBC not only picked up the show, but they also have sold it to over eighty five percent of possible markets. With the recent signing of Richard Dominick, a long time Springer executive producer, all of the pieces seem to be falling into place.

Variety.com is reporting that ‘Steve’ will be shot in front of a live studio audience on the same set as its predecessor ‘The Jerry Springer Show.’ Chicago’s almost toxic mix of testosterone, booze, and inferiority seems to create a nice rowdy audience for ‘Jerry’ every time.

NBC hasn’t released many details about the upcoming show; however, judging by Steve’s numerous guest hosting spots, it should be closer to ‘Maury’ than ‘The Jerry Springer Show.’ Wilkos actually seems to care about helping the guests and usually, gets pretty emotionally involved. While this may be tolerable as a rare contrast to Springer’s complete indifference, Steve’s caring heart may prove to be his undoing. People don’t watch garbage afternoon talk shows rooting for guests to get their lives together. They watch to temporarily feel better about their own shortcomings.

Before you write me nasty comments about preferring Jerry’s laze-fair attitude to Steve's kindness, answer one question. Would you rather watch Wilkos fain interest in someone’s legitimate problems or tackle a fat black tranny’s grandmother who was trying to molest a redneck stripper’s husband? I rest my case.

So, good luck Steve. I’ll watch...but I’m not really sure the rest of the world will.
