The Newsroom's Kelen Coleman Joins Rebel Wilson In Super Fun Night

Among the projects in development at ABC is Rebel Wilson's Super Fun Night, an awkwardly titled single-camera comedy that's not only written by the Bridesmaids scene-stealer and Pitch Perfect star, but will also feature Wilson among the leads. Joining her is Kelen Coleman, whose recent credits include an arc on HBO's The Newsroom.

Super Fun Night was originally set up as a multi-camera comedy at CBS, but has since been dropped by the Eye and picked up by ABC, where it's being reworked as a single-camera comedy. And given ABC's comedy line-up, it would probably fit in better there in that format, should the project go to series. Super Fun Night stars Rebel Wilson as one of three nerdy female friends who try to have a good time every Friday night. TVLine reports that Coleman has joined the cast to play Felicity, "a successful professional who serves as a role model and inspiration to Wilson’s character."

TVLine says Anna Camp played Coleman's role in the CBS version of the project. That seems oddly fitting as both Camp and Coleman are linked in a previous comedy. They both played Pam's bridesmaids in The Office, with both actors appearing in the "Niagara" episode of The Office. Camp played Pam's sister Penny and Coleman played Pam's friend Isabel, who has a fling with Dwight that leads to the character returning for a couple more episodes. More recently, Coleman played Lisa Lambert in The Newsroom, and while the role proved she's adept at drama, I always thought she was really funny in her small but memorable role on The Office, so it's great to hear she's back on a comedy project. Her casting is one more reason to hope this pilot finds a spot on ABC's line-up next year.
