Parade's End's Tom Mison To Play Ichabod Crane In Fox's Sleepy Hollow Pilot

Fox has found its Ichabod Crane for the Sleepy Hollow pilot in British actor Tom Mison. He’ll be taking on a new twist on the famous role of the scientifically-minded investigator sent to a small town to investigate murder; Fox has Mr. Crane time-travelling.

The modern-day take on the classic thriller isn’t completely modern. Instead Ichabod Crane will time travel from the Revolutionary War, where he has only just removed the head of an enemy on horseback, and then finds himself transported to the present. So far the details on how exactly that happens haven’t been provided, but TVLine tells us that, when he arrives, Crane will find himself facing the infamous Headless Horseman, who is haunting the titular town. The new take will partner Crane with a local detective in the pursuit of the mythical man without a head. The Good Wife’s Nicole Beharie is set to play the detective’s role for the pilot.

Tom Mison recently appeared in the movie Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and HBO’s miniseries Parade’s End. Other TV credits include Secret Diary of a Call Girl and the BBC series New Tricks. He also had a role alongside newly Oscar-awarded Anne Hathaway in the movie One Day. This would be his first regular starring role on American television if it goes to series.

Fox’s Sleepy Hollow is written and executive produced by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, who previously worked together on Fringe. Also on board for the pilot are MadTV’s Orlando Jones and Dexter’s Katia Winter.
