Hollywood A-listers like Scarlett Johansson and Catherine Zeta-Jones are making headlines today for winning Tony Awards last night but there were other talented winners whose names might not be as widely known (yet, anyway). Among them was Eddie Redmayne, who took home the award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play for his role in “Red.” Starz subscribers will have a chance to see Redmayne’s acting chops when Pillars of the Earth premieres next month.
Redmayne has a few film and TV credits listed for himself, including a role in The Other Boleyn Girl but fans will really get a taste of his talent when they see him in his role as Jack Jackson (aka Jack Builder) in the TV adaptation of Pillars of the Earth, which premieres on Starz on July 23rd at 10:00 p.m.
If you’re familiar with the story then you know that Jack plays a crucial role in much of the drama in Pillars. Without giving too much away (for those of you who haven’t read the book), Jack is an architect, a sculptor and the potential love interest to the beautiful Aliena.
Also among the cast of the Pillars miniseries are Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Donald Sutherland and Alison Pill.
Here's a video from BackstageLive featuring Redmayne talking about his Tony win and his role in the play. He also mentions the upcoming role on Pillars.
