Ricky Gervais, who brought us the original UK version of The Office, and is set to host The Golden Globes on Sunday, January 17th is coming back to series television. Or at least part of him is. Teaming up again with his creative partner Stephen Merchant, the duo are putting animation to a series of web broadcasts they did for The Guardian. The new series will air on HBO.

Kicking off February 19th, HBO has given the series a 13-episode commitment, as reported by TV Guide. The content will be culled from the podcats Gervais and Merchant did with comic Karl Pilkington. Animators will put picture to discussions covering a wide range of topics. The podcasts set a record as the most downloaded ever according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Ricky Gervais Show will lead into the second season of HBO's animated The Life and Times of Tim. The comedy block kicks off February 19th, 2010 at 9 PM ET.
