Shake-Up At Private Practice

Merrin Dungey has turned in her walking papers and is exiting ‘Private Practice.’ That probably doesn’t mean anything to you; so, let me put this in terms you’re more likely to understand. The lady who played the wife of Taye Diggs in that stupid two hour ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ episode where Addison headed for the coast is gone. She will be replaced by her previously unmentioned cousins Coy and Vance.

Actually, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Dungey will be replaced by former Emmy nominee Audra McDonald. The thirty six year old actress will play the exact same roll, and viewers are unlikely to hear any mention of the swap. That’s really too bad. An actress getting replaced after the pilot is a common occurance in Hollywood, and one time before I die, I would like to hear someone say, “Wow, you look different today. Did you do your face a different way today?”

‘Private Practice’ is scheduled to appear in the Fall and is expected to be a ratings smash. I love ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and Addison is one of the most attractive women I have ever seen; so, I’ll go ahead and admit that I’m going to tune in.
