Should Fox Give Breaking In Another Chance?

Among the series cancelled by Fox earlier this week was freshman comedy Breaking In, which has only aired a handful of episodes thus far. Word is, the series might only be mostly cancelled… meaning, there’s a chance Fox might un-cancel it.

The curse of Christian Slater strikes again? Maybe not. It was looking like Breaking In would go the way of My Own Worst Enemy and The Forgotten, but it appears there’s a possibility we haven’t seen the last of the Fox comedy series. According to Deadline, Fox is in talks with Sony Pictures TV (BI’s producer) to find some way to bring the series back next season. In all likelihood, no decision will be made until after the upfronts next week.

Breaking In follows a team of misfit security experts who use shady methods to earn their clientele and handle jobs. Among the cast is Christian Slater, Bret Harrison, Odette Annable, Alphonso McAuley and Michael Rosenbaum.

It seemed like a hasty decision to drop Breaking In so quickly, given it’s late premiere and short first season run. Maybe it wasn’t an instant hit but not all comedies are, especially when dealing with such a quirky set of characters. Breaking In strikes me as the kind of comedy series that won't really start to show it’s true potential until its second season (see: The Office). Hopefully Fox and Sony will figure out a way to keep it around.

What do you think? Should Fox give the series another shot or should it stay cancelled and be replaced by some other comedy series?
