Sonya Walger Signs On For USA's Common Law

Lost fans will appreciate this bit of casting news, as will those of you who watched FlashForward. Word is, British actress Sonya Walger has been cast to play a pretty big role in USA’s upcoming series Common Law.

Entertainment Weekly got the exclusive on the story, posting that Walger, whom is well known for playing the role of Desmond’s main squeeze Penny in Lost, has been cast to play a therapist in Common Law. The USA series already has Warren Kole (The Chicago Code) and Michael Ealy (Californication) on board to star, playing homicide detectives who can’t get along and are therefore sent to couples counseling to sort out their differences. Walger has been tapped to co-star as Dr. Emma Ryan, the gorgeous, intelligent psychiatrist who runs a posh Beverly Hills practice and in her spare time, offers more reasonably priced services to Alcoholics Anonymous and group therapy for couples at the local community center.

?What are the odds that one or both of these cops are going to fall head over heals in love with Emma? Or perhaps one will be married. He'll be the more level-headed of the duo, while the other is all bachelor (and all ego). Maybe I just have Bad Boys on the brain. Either way, there’s a lot of potential with a story like this and Walger certainly adds to that.

Common Law is set to go into production next month in New Orleans and USA hopes to get it on the air in 2012.
