Syfy Cancels Stargate Universe

There’s bad news if you’re a fan of Syfy’s Stargate Universe. It seems the series is going the way of Caprica. Word is, Syfy has opted not to pick up Stargate Universe for a third season.

Stargate Universe reached the halfway point of its second season last month and went on hiatus until Spring 2011 when the second half of the season will air. According to Deadline that’ll be the end of the line for the show as Syfy has decided not to order another season. This news follows the news that Caprica wasn’t getting a second season.

Stargate Universe, like Caprica, was a spinoff series to another Syfy show. Caprica was a prequel to Battlestar Galactica, while SGU followed Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1. According to Deadline, the remaining 10 episodes of Stargate Universe will air in Spring 2011.
