Tim Allen To Man Up For ABC In Comedy Pilot

Tim Allen in a TV show? I just can’t picture it! Oh, right, there was that hugely popular Home Improvement series way back when, wasn’t there? Now it seems the Santa Clause star may be headed back to the small screen.

The Hollywood Reporter posted the news, stating that ABC and CBS went head to head for a comedy pilot titled Man Up. Tim Allen is in negotiations to star in the project. Man Up will be a multicamera comedy about a guy who’s “fighting for his manhood in a world of women.”

Writers on the project include Jack Burditt (30 Rock), Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy and Becky Clements. As the popular family comedy series Home Improvement aired on ABC, it seems fitting that Allen would make his return to TV on that network (if the series gets picked up and Allen’s locked in to star, anyway). Plus, by the sound of the premise, it seems likely that this series calls for an actor and comedian who can approach the role with humor and charm as opposed to just being a semi-misogynistic, grumpy man who's determined to fit some kind of manly stereotype. I'd put Tim Allen in the former category, so I think he'll be a nice fit for this part.
