Members of the True Blood cast popped up at Comic-Con on Saturday. While the session was mostly devoted to a Q&A regarding Season 6 and how things have been going, HBO did release one of the network’s “In the coming weeks” teaser trailers. The whole thing is a minute and 43 seconds of constant action, which should be no surprise, considering how True Blood has played out over the last couple of weeks.
Last week’s episode was a truly unstoppable force of nature. While I’m still hating the plotline where Alcide and Sam must try to kill one another—despite working together to save each other’s asses just a season or so ago and despite Terry going on yet another depressive bent, otherwise, last Sunday’s episode was so jam-packed there were moments that I thought my heart might explode, leaving behind the same gooey substance that a staked vampire becomes. Things only seem to be amping up in the coming weeks, with Sarah (Anna Camp) looking to take on an even more startling and predominant role in the series.
Additionally, the trailer gives us a look at Jason, who still seems to be on an anti-vampire bent, as well as at the crew of vamps that have been imprisoned, who all seem to be getting a little more restless, and with good reason. I recently re-watched the first couple of seasons of True Blood, and the nudity to fully clothed ratio has been sorely lacking in Season 6, so it’s also good to see there may be some romance for Jessica and for Sam, among others. Our main cast probably makes too much money to be baring body parts these days, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get a nice love scene from secondary characters every now and again.
The cast and crew were pretty good about avoiding spoilers during this week’s panel, but the teaser trailer does give us some hint of what’s ahead. Luckily, we won’t have too wait too long to find out for ourselves. True Blood’s latest episode airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET.
We’re about at the halfway mark in Season 6, which was shortened due to lead actress Anna Paquin’s pregnancy. Luckily, HBO has already signed on for a seventh season of the drama, so if this season's human versus vampire plotlines aren’t enough to satiate audiences, new episodes will definitely be hitting the schedule in 2014.
Don’t forget to catch tonight’s episode at 9 p.m. ET. Maybe this quick shot will help you to determine it’s a good idea…
