Watch The New Jimmy In Better Call Saul Season 2 Clip

Just when we thought that the Breaking Bad universe couldn’t be improved upon any more, Better Call Saul came around and gave us one of the best first seasons of television in recent memory. Without relying too much on the success of its predecessor, Better Call Saul tells the tale of how down-on-his-luck Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) eventually transforms into smarmy criminal lawyer Saul Goodman. With the second season premiering in two weeks on AMC, a new clip from the series has hit the web; check it out below.

The clip – courtesy of EW – plays out similar to several scenes from the first season of Better Call Saul. Jimmy pulls his junk heap of a car up to the nail salon where he operates his law practice, gets out and collects his mail. As he walks through the salon he lays his characteristic charm on all of the ladies working in the building. Finally he gets to the back of the salon near the door of his office and tries to get a drink of cucumber water, an action he attempts a handfull of times during the first season. When he's admonished for trying to drink the water – which is reserved for customers only – he smirks, throws his tie over his shoulder, and proceeds to drink straight from the tap without grabbing a cub; he then confidently (or cockily) struts into his office.

It’s a short clip with pretty much no indication as to where the plot of Season 2 will go; that doesn’t mean it isn’t incredibly telling. This is not the Jimmy we saw at the beginning of Season 1. The betrayal of his brother and his willingness to once again indulge his “Slippin’ Jimmy” persona has endowed him with a new sense of confidence and a new mission in life: success at any cost. Beyond that, he now has new contacts and support in the criminal underworld thanks to his slowly burgeoning friendship with enforcer Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks). No longer concerned with doing the morally right thing, Jimmy has begun his descent into the persona of Saul – a persona that will persist until Walter White comes into his life and tears the whole thing apart.

I don’t know about you but I for one cannot wait for Better Call Saul to return. The show has proven once and for all that Jimmy McGill is as interesting, if not more, than Walter White, and provides new information that makes watching old episodes of Breaking Bad even more heartbreaking. We here at Cinema Blend will bring you any and all information related to the upcoming season of Better Caul Saul, which returns to AMC on February 15.
