The World Series Game 7 Broadcast Wins Big Ratings For Fox

The Cardinals and Cardinal fans aren’t the only ones with something to celebrate after last Friday night. Fox also has cause for celebration as Game 7 not only drew the most viewers for the World Series since the Red Sox broke the curse in 2004, but the game was also the most watched Friday night program in Fox history.

Friday night’s not exactly known for delivering huge ratings, however that doesn’t appear to be the case for baseball. According to Entertainment Weekly, 25.4 million viewers tuned in to watch the Cardinals win the World Series last Friday night. Not only was it the most watched program for a Friday in the network’s history, but it’s also the most watched Friday night program for any network since the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, which aired on NBC in 2010.

?As EW notes, Fox had to shuffle around some programming over the last couple of weeks, in order to make room for the World Series. This included putting New Girl on hiatus, and shifting around the X Factor schedule, as well as causing some people to miss an episode of Terra Nova. Given that all of the mentioned shows are all new series, there’s a risk that some, if not all, would lose momentum with viewers if they were shuffled around too much. Whether or not damage was done to the viewerships of those series remains to be seen. In the meantime, Fox scored a big win in hosting the World Series.
