Saturday Night Live may be in its 51st season on the 2026 TV schedule, but people are still talking about the big 50th anniversary special last year. The special brought out many former hosts, musical guests, and famous fans, and of course, some fan-favorite sketches. However, current cast member Ashley Padilla recalled getting mic’d for one sketch, only to be completely forgotten.

While Padilla has been used the most this season, even as just a featured player, the same could not be said for last season. Season 50 was Padilla’s first season, so naturally, it’s expected for her not to be in many sketches. Unfortunately, this remained true for SNL50. While doing an interview with Vanity Fair with several other SNL cast members, Padilla was tasked with asking her fellow castmates which iconic sketch she was in but never appeared in on camera. Jane Wickline was right on the money, as she guessed the Domingo sketch. Padilla confirmed that by saying:

Okay, this hurtful. Yeah, it was Domingo. No, I don’t care! They forgot I was there. It happens. I was just shocked I was even mic’d. They mic’d me, and you could hear me crying. There were so many opportunities for them to kind of just show me. Show my face.

Wickline had remembered that they were all in it, and when you look back at the sketch (which can be streamed with a Peacock subscription or watched on YouTube), everyone is in it, and more. Even if they don’t have speaking roles. Padilla is noticeably missing, and she even revealed that she was there during rehearsals and during the live show. But for some reason, she just wasn’t shown.

Considering how big the Domingo sketch was and how many people were in it, from cast members to big guests such as Martin Short, Pedro Pascal, and Sabrina Carpenter, it’s not surprising to know that they couldn’t show every single person. However, it is still a disappointment knowing that Padilla was in the sketch, and we’re only just now finding out about it.

The Domingo sketch became a fan-favorite during Season 50 when Ariana Grande hosted, with the sketch going viral. It led Carpenter to arrest Marcello Hernández as Domingo at one of her concerts, and the sketch returned on numerous occasions. It wasn’t a surprise when it made an appearance at SNL50, and it’s arguably one of the most memorable sketches from the night due to several factors. Of course, what would have made it better was Ashley Padilla’s involvement, no matter how big or small it was.

At the very least, SNL seems to be making it up to Padilla this season. She’s appeared in the most sketches in Season 51, and the season isn’t even over. Even though it’s hard to make up for not being shown during Domingo in the anniversary special, she seems to be doing pretty well. I just hope with the next anniversary special that includes a sketch involving all the cast members, she’s in it and shown, even if she’s no longer part of the cast.
