The Eiffel Tower is the epitome of romantic settings, and if it’s good enough for some of the best romance films of all time, it’s good enough for Lacey Chabert in her new Hallmark+ series Paris Is Always a Good Idea. The latest episode, “Knightly,” which hit the 2026 TV schedule on August 13, showed Chelsea (Chabert) exploring her feelings for her work rival. Their Eiffel Tower scene was absolutely swoon-worthy, but they told CinemaBlend that shooting it was a different story altogether.
Paris Is Always a Good Idea sees Lacey Chabert traveling the globe as her character reconnects with a trio of old boyfriends to honor her late mother’s wish.
Unexpectedly, Chelsea starts to warm to her colleague Jason Knightly (Scott Michael Foster — who insists he’s not mad about having three romantic rivals on the series). I asked the stars about Episode 4’s pivotal Eiffel Tower scene, and Chabert said it was one they’d been looking forward to:
We were so excited about this, and we had waited on doing this scene, it was the last night of filming in Paris. I mean, how often do you get to film on the Eiffel Tower overnight with no one else there? I mean, it was spectacular.
Mother Nature had her own plans for Paris Is Always a Good Idea’s filming schedule, though. The Hallmark queen continued:
We get there, there’s a massive rainstorm. Equipment’s flying, tents are flying, everyone’s frozen. So cold. We get up to the second level, where we’re filming the scene, and lo and behold, it starts snowing. It was unreal.
It was admittedly “picturesque,” she said, and the crew all banded together to get the scene done, but Scott Michael Foster suggested that while we might have felt heat between Chelsea and Knightly, the actors were experiencing pretty chilly conditions — especially given their wardrobes! He said:
She’s in a dress, and I’m in a dress shirt, and we’re standing on the railing, and we’re supposed to look like it’s a nice summer night. We’re just like [shivers].
The book-to-screen adaptation takes place in the summer, after all, and the freezing cold shoot proved quite the challenge, as Lacey Chabert added:
The hardest part of that job was not shivering and not looking absolutely freezing.
That really does sound uncomfortable, and it validates other Hallmark stars who have argued that filming summer movies in the winter might be worse than shooting Christmas movies in the heat.
However, Henry Czerny — who co-stars in Paris Is Always a Good Idea as Chelsea’s father — gave a good perspective on how the weather might have added a little something to the scene. He said:
How do you keep warm on a cool night at the top of the tower? Well, you get closer together!
