The wait for S.W.A.T.’s reboot, Exiles, has felt long. However, it’s almost over, and there’s even more good news. Before Exiles could even premiere on the 2026 TV schedule, Shemar Moore shared an update about the future of his spinoff that he’s clearly thrilled about, which, in turn, makes me very excited too.
While there have been some bittersweet emotions regarding S.W.A.T.’s end and its spinoff’s beginning, these days, Moore is all smiles. He has good reason to be as well, because on his Instagram he announced that Exiles has already been renewed for Season 2. Sharing that news with his followers, the Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson actor said:
I got such great news. S.W.A.T. Exiles just got picked up for Season 2, baby. That’s right. We start shooting in a couple of months.
Well, that’s fantastic news! That means we shouldn’t have to wait a super long time for Season 2. While it’s unclear when exactly the second season will premiere, the fact that production starts in a couple of months is great, especially since it took a while for the show to find a home after filming for Season 1 wrapped in February.
Moore really is ready to get back and “get it,” too, as he told TV Insider that he needs to get back to the gym already. Explaining just how excited he is about the future of the S.W.A.T. franchise, the actor said:
We’re jazzed. As soon as I get off the phone with you, I got to get to the gym and get all my Hondo back.
However, let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. We still need to see Season 1 of S.W.A.T. Exiles. Thankfully, we’ll get to watch it very soon! The 10-episode reboot was picked up by STARZ earlier this summer, and now it’s set to premiere in the fall, as Moore stated:
But first, mark your calendars, because Season 1 is coming September 25, exclusively on STARZ. Where? I said STARZ. Check out S.W.A.T. Exiles. It’s your boy. Let’s get it.
So, to recap, not only is Season 1 coming out in a little over a month, but we now know Season 2 will happen. It’s no wonder Moore is so excited in the video he posted about all this:
Considering S.W.A.T. was canceled three times during its run on CBS, this kind of news has to be extra meaningful for Moore and this crew. Not only are they coming back with Exiles, but they have a guarantee that they’ll get to keep making this new show.
Now, the wait is really on for this reboot's premiere. With that said, make sure you have September 25 circled on your calendar for the S.W.A.T. Exiles premiere, and prepare for this show’s comeback by streaming S.W.A.T. with a Netflix subscription.
