Last week Remedy Entertainment let slip that there was going to be a new, fast-paced game mode in Alan Wake's American Nightmare. Today they provided the official details on "Fight till Dawn" mode, along with some information on the single-player campaign's plot.

In American Nightmare, Alan Wake is hunting his evil doppleganger Mr. Scratch. He tracks the supernatural murderer to the Arizona town of Night Springs. Wake must eliminate Scratch and save his wife Alice.

"Fight till Dawn" mode is completely separate from the campaign. The player must fight off a horde of enemies using a huge arsenal of both classic and new weapons. Online leaderboards will track your performance and let you compete with other players across the world.

American Nightmare is due in mid-Q1 2012. It will be released through Xbox Live Arcade.
