Originally launching on the Xbox 360 in early 2010, Deadly Premonition is finally headed to the PlayStation 3 in the form of a Director’s Cut for $39.99. Publisher Rising Star Games Inc. has finally given the “industry-polarizing” game a release date of April 30, available on both a physical disc and through the PlayStation Network.

When Deadly Premonition first released, critics weren’t quite sure what to think of this bizarre open world, horror action-adventure game. Some said it was an absolute nightmare (in the bad way) while others claimed it was a borderline brilliant experience. Until now, however, PS3 gamers in the U.S. have never been able to judge the game for themselves.

According to Rising Star, Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut will be the definitive version of the game, featuring all new content and upgrades, as well as some undisclosed pre-order bonuses. Anyone who pre-orders the game through participating retailers like Gamestop and Amazon will net themselves some exclusive downloadable content. Other than the fact that said content will “expand the mystery beyond the original game,” however, Rising Star is currently remaining tight-lipped on what the new DLC will add to the game.

In Deadly Premonition, the player takes on the role of special agent Francis York Morgan, who has been sent to the quiet town of Greenvale to investigate the brutal murder of young woman. On his quest to find some answers, York will uncover many of the town’s hidden secrets, all while trying to solve the Red Seed Murders and staying away from supernatural creatures that want to see him dead. Think Twin Peaks meets Silent Hill and you’ve got the general idea.

The Director’s Cut will include an all new game scenario, updated HD graphics, improved controls and that special DLC we were just talking about.
