Dishonored Is 12-14 Hours Long
The stealth action game Dishonored is single-player-only but should take you a decent amount of time to complete. Arkane Studios says that a direct play-through will take 12-14 hours.
Co-creative directors Harvey Smith and Raphael Colantonio said in the community Q&A that "explorers who eavesdrop a lot" will spend twice as much time completing the campaign. Presumably that means that there's all sorts of extra story material for you to pick up on. It's not clear whether side quests are included as well. Arkane didn't go into further detail about the optional content.
During the same interview, the developers also discussed the magic system of Dishonored. Players will have six powers and four passive enhancements at their disposal. Also, there are 40 bone charms in the game that grant additional bonuses. All spells cost mana and while some of this mana pool regenerates to make minor powers like Blink (teleportation) and Dark Vision essentially free, more powerful abilities will require you to drink potions.
In Dishonored, players take on the role of an assassin that uses magic, gadgets and weapons to eliminate targets. The game's similar in structure to Deus Ex, in that you can complete missions in a variety of ways. You can sneak into the mansion through the sewers or race through the front door with guns blazing. Thus, you could squeeze even more playtime out of the game through multiple play-throughs.
Dishonored will arrive in early October on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. As you might have gathered from our hands-on preview from E3, we're pretty excited about it.
