After some shakeup at the corporate level Eidos has announced the follow up to last year’s Battlestations: Midway in Battlestations: Pacific. The game is set in WWII and will feature action and strategy during two different single player campaigns.
On the American side things pick up immediately after the end of Midway as players battle their way to Okinawa. Once there they fall in love with a local girl who dances, and their friend/mentor faces his past and the woman he left behind. Wait no…that’s The Karate Kid Part II. On the Japanese side of the story players take control of Imperial Japanese fleet to fight at Pearl Harbor. It sounds a bit like the idea came after watching a couple Clint Eastwood films. “Battlestations: Pacific is even bigger, more authentic and innovative than ever before, taking the Battlestations franchise to the next level and allowing players to relive some of the most memorable battles in modern history, as well as gain an insight into what could have been, should Japan have gained the upper hand against the United States,” said Trevor Burrows, Brand Manager at Eidos. Players will partake in 28 missions that include 21 brand new units, including kamikaze. No specific release date was given by Eidos, but Battlestations: Pacific is set to release on the Xbox 360 and PC. |
