Luftrausers Flying Onto PS3/Vita Soon
The two-man studio at Vlambeer, in conjunction with Devolver Digital, are prepping arcade dogfighting game Luftrausers for launch on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita later this year, bringing fast-paced flying action with a retro appeal to the PlayStation Network.
Vlambeer’s wildly successful Super Crate Box was one of the launch titles for PlayStation Mobile, so it’s only fitting that the studio’s latest title, Luftrausers will be made available on Sony’s family of consoles sometime later this year. And announced today through the PlayStation Blog, Luftrausers looks every bit as over-the-top as its predecessor.
According to Vlambeer’s Rami Ismail, Luftrausers is all about building and flying the best luftrauser airplane before taking it into the clouds for dogfighting action.
“We’re a two-man studio that is investing a lot of time into making a game about shooting airplanes that is fun, explosive and makes you feel like the best pilot in the world,” Ismail said. “It’s about barely dodging that homing missile that would’ve ended your run just short of your high score. It’s about finishing a minute-long tense battle with a huge airship. It’s a fighter jet crashing into a boat and sinking it. And most importantly, it’s about doing all of the above in the span of seconds, while pulling acrobatic moves with the best airplane in the world.”
Luftrauser will feature more than 125 airplane combinations for player to experiment with. Other than that, it looks like the gameplay hones in on that direct aerial combat featuring scenarios that look damn-near impossible. Look for it on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita sometime soon.
