BioWare intends to release downloadable content for Mass Effect 2 after it hits stores. The new content may be larger than you'd expect, though.
"What I can say is that we're going to be offering a lot more range of content from maybe a weapon, a new gun to new armours, new helmets, side quests up to full expansion packs," ME2 producer Adrien Cho told CVG. "So a lot more variety to keep players engaged. For someone who wants a new weapon, they can have one, but I'd want more hours for the Mass Effect universe and those are going to be in the pack."
When asked specifically if they'd consider a full expansion akin to Grand Theft Auto IV's The Ballad of Gay Tony, Cho said, "I think so. It depends on the scale. The price range I think is really important so that we can give players good value for their money, I think that's really important. I think we see publishers and developers on one side unfairly price things."
Ballad offers up at least a dozen hours of fresh gameplay and costs $20. That gameplay:price ratio definitely an outlier with downloadable content these days, though. Mass Effect's "Bring Down The Sky" DLC, priced at $5, added maybe an hour to that game.
