Mortal Kombat X Tremor Release Date Revealed By Gameplay Trailer

Netherrealm Studios will be adding another character to Mortal Kombat X's roster this week. A new gameplay trailer from the developer shows us Tremor's new look and abilities in the fighting game.

When Tremor first appeared in Mortal Kombat Special Forces, he looked just like a lot of other ninja characters. Much like fellow ninja Reptile, though, he's gotten a serious redesign in Mortal Kombat X so he's easier to distinguish from the rest of the cast. The MKX incarnation of Tremor looks like he's half-stone, half-man. Rocks protrude from his arms and chest. His hands can morph into boulders when he wants to deliver a punch at the end of a combo.

As his appearance suggests, Tremor uses Earth magic in battle. He tosses stones or causes earthquakes to daze opponents so that he can then get close to pummel them. He also creates stone platforms in the level which he can use as a launchpad for an aerial attack. He can also slam opponents into these rock formations for extra damage.

The trailer closes with a look at his Fatalities. With the first, Tremor impales his opponent on stalagmites and then smashes their head with his hands. The second Fatality is even harder to watch. He encases his enemy's feet in stone and then creates two walls that slowly close and crush the poor soul.

The Mortal Kombat X Tremor Bundle will be available starting on July 21st for Kombat Pack owners. In addition to getting Tremor for your collection, you'll also get classic skins for Quan Chi, Jax and Kung Lao. You can get a glimpse at each during the trailer.

If you don't purchase the Kombat Pack, you'll have to wait until July 28th for Tremor and those skins. No prices have been announced yet. If past DLC packs are any indication, Tremor and the skins will cost $8 to download and can also be purchased separately.

Although Tremor is technically a "classic" character," MKX will be the first game that he's fully playable. He was an enemy in Mortal Kombat Special Forces and only playable in the Challenge Tower for MK9 on PlayStation Vita. Netherrealm's Ed Boon said they added him to the game because of huge fan support:

There's a really big push for the obscure character we have, Tremor, which I got so many tweets from players wanting that character. It actually stood out to me as odd, but there was this swell of people pushing for it with petitions online and all of this crazy stuff, so we included him, and a big reason was because of fans yelling loud enough."

Tremor is the fourth and final DLC character announced for Mortal Kombat X's Kombat Pack. Other additions to the roster include Jason from Friday the 13th, Tanya, and Predator from the film series of the same name. It's completely possible that Netherrealm will introduce more fighters to the game in the future given its popularity. However, you'll probably have to shell out cash for them even if you own the Kombat Pack.
